Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that Türkiye has bolstered its international standing following the successful hosting of the NATO Summit from July 7 to 8. Erdoğan described the summit as a historic triumph, emphasizing the attendance of global leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump. The event underscored Türkiye’s expanding influence in global diplomacy, according to Erdoğan.
Highlighting the outcomes of the summit, Erdoğan mentioned that NATO leaders reached a consensus on the necessity of eliminating obstacles to defense industry collaboration. In a significant development, he revealed that NATO plans to establish a Counter-Unmanned Systems Centre of Excellence in Konya, a city in Türkiye.
The summit also featured a Defence Industry Forum that attracted nearly 1,000 participants. Erdoğan expressed optimism that this event would not only boost tourism but also enhance Türkiye’s international image. The president underscored Türkiye’s commitment to promoting regional peace and stability, alongside strengthening its global reputation.
In terms of bilateral relations, Erdoğan expressed a desire to deepen cooperation with the United States. He highlighted an ambitious goal of increasing bilateral trade to $100 billion, reinforcing the importance of economic ties between the two nations. This ambition reflects Türkiye’s broader strategic objectives in fostering stronger international partnerships.
Additionally, Erdoğan extended his condolences to Qatar, following the passing of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. This gesture further illustrates Türkiye’s commitment to maintaining and nurturing its diplomatic relationships within the region.
