Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan have pledged to enhance their partnership by advancing cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, and transportation, as they seek to bolster regional connectivity and address international conflicts through diplomatic channels. This commitment emerged from the seventh meeting of the Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group held in Ankara, co-chaired by the foreign ministers of both nations.
During the meeting, officials evaluated the progress of their bilateral relations and agreed on the importance of deepening collaboration in key areas such as education, cultural exchanges, and economic development. The discussions also included preparations for upcoming reciprocal visits by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, highlighting the continuous effort to strengthen diplomatic ties.
Economic cooperation remains a focal point, with both governments expressing their intent to support new investment ventures and implement measures that create conducive conditions for businesses. Additionally, there is a shared commitment to enhance travel, employment, and educational opportunities, fostering stronger people-to-people connections between the two countries.
Regional connectivity was a significant topic during the talks, with Kyrgyzstan emphasizing the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor as a major transport route. The country aims to link the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway to this corridor, thus improving access to European and Middle Eastern markets through Türkiye. This development is poised to enhance trade routes and economic opportunities across the region.
In the realm of security and diplomacy, the ministers reiterated their dedication to resolving conflicts through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law. Kyrgyzstan expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s mediation efforts in the region and thanked Ankara for its support in Kyrgyzstan’s successful campaign for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term. Kyrgyzstan aims to use this platform to advocate for dialogue among nations while representing the interests of landlocked developing countries, mountainous regions, and small island states on the global stage.
